Welcome
My name is "Bryon L Amos", a full time local artist originally born and raised on Nunivak Island, a small village called, " Mekoryuk Alaska". I had started this website several years ago in presenting my hand crafted arts designs to the public and national advertising opportunities using an online website and AI technologies. We present ancient arts designs in Southwestern coastal mask designs, sculptures, and presenting ancient photos of the people of Nunivak Island.
My Story
Hello, and welcome to our personal online gallery of indegionous arts and designs. I grew up in a small village in the Southwestern village of Nunivak Island. Having seen for the last time an ancient kayaker leaving the village up the river during the high tide, that was the last I ever seen an ancient kayak being used for a purpose. Since that time I experienced villagers started using son machine, outboard motors and eventually a television appeared when I was about 5 years of age. the people of Nunivak had experienced tremendous changes into the western way of life, the school I attended was of great value to my learning abilities, and shaped the way for a new way of life as I had experienced tremendous changes in the way our ancestors used to live. I attended a boarding school in the southeast region of Sitka, "Mt Edgecumbe High School", a highly disciplinary high school that taught me many alternative values in educational classes, sports, and Marching band, Pep band and orchestra band during my high school days. After high school I decided I wanted to move to the city, and worked in different work enviroments, challenging my training and work ethics in a city environment. After working in the public sector for many years I decided I wanted to do something different in my life, that's when I decided and remembered the mask making of my father, during this time period, I catered to the southeastern Alaskan tourism industry producing hand crafted stone products ranging from $25-$75 products. That was the beginning of my journey in the arts industry, I grew into producing for arts for the local businesses, corporations, and attending community seasonal shows. This has been since the past 45 years in my personal journey, I dedicate my experience and personal legacy to my father and my dear mother for their encouragement and the legacy of the arts designs and talent from my father, who was a mask maker since the 70 years of his lifetime. My mother also was a skin sewer, a basket weaver, and made ancient seal skin mukluks,(hand made boots made from seal skin and walrus skin), a sewer in water proof seal gut rain coats for the rainy seasons. I have experienced the ancient knowledge from my grandparents stories, how they lived their lives and their great grand parent from the stone age eras. Since I was a younger boy I helped my father gather natural materials for his mask making, during his legacy of producing his masks, he always told me stories of the ancient folklore, and why people lived their lives, in reflecting the way of dicipline, character, and an honest way of life.
